Right... here we go again!
After leaving Christchurch, we travelled to Fairley and Lake Tekapo in central south Island. It was our first trip so we had no ideas how long it would take to gfet anywhere (or how much petrol the car would eat!) When we got there, there was about 4 campervans and a tent, a big difference to Christchurch! So we picked where we liked and set off again to look at Lake Tekapo. It was beautiful, a really aquamarine colour! :-) we had dinner in the kitchen at the campsite and ended up hcatting for hours to random people about where to go, where we'd been etc! love the campsite life!
Next stop was Dundedin, via a small detour that a lady in fairley suggested going round a lake and a dam rather than past it! was beautiful yet again.. more mountains.. lakes.. mountains.. and lakes! Also stopped off to see some ancient Maori cave art on the way (which blatently looked fake!) as well, so a bit of history too! The next day we did the Cadbury's tour, and as me and dani answered lots of questions we got lots more free chocolate - bonus! We also did the Speights brewery tour and got 1/2 hour of free taster that u got the pour yourself! brilliant!
Next stop Te Anau, More stunning lakes, Lake Te Anau and Lake Manapouri. We visited some Glow Worm caves that evening, was beautiful, like stars! :-) and did a cruise on Milford Sound the next day, it's meant to be one of the most beautiful parts of NZ and it was! ( we might have seen more if we hadn't been talked at by an old couple from Guildford for ages! lol!)
That evening we saw an AMAZING film called Ata Whenua about the fjordlands, was stunning! well worth the trip for the 35 min film!
Queenstown was next - we did the shotover jet here! was amazing, but the driver was a mentalist, we were skirting over the water and high speeds and he was driving alomst at rocks and spinning 360 degrees! crazy man!
Next stop... the Glaciers finally! Best bit so far! :-) 6 hours Glacier Hike on Fox Glacier. Got to see all things i'd learny about in A-Level Geography at last, was the most amazing thing! we had full campons and did proper hiking (my legs still hurt 2 days later!) when I get some pictures up, you'll see what i mean about how beautiful it is!
