Christchurch!

Only have 2 days in Christchurch now after the kerfuffle of yesterday, well 1 1/2 after spending most of the morning in the Jucy office at the airport waiting for new tyres to be fitted!
Evetually parked up back at the Campsite (which is so good- very well equipped and we get a free 1/2 hour spa!) Evetually got out in ChCh and found our way to Cathedral square and cathedral via the bus. Got on the city tram for a tour of the city (love the trams!) and looked in the market at all the jade and bone carvings. Went back to the campsite to see if we could try and cook in our van.. but no.. still raining and had been for a few hours so inside it was, but was clean and loads of tables. Had the spa this evening too, it was more of a shed with a corrugated iron roof with a jacuzzi inside but it was still looovely!

Second day in Chch was better, still rainy though! looked around the arts market, loads of greenstone and paua shell things - beautiful! Got some NZ wool too! Looked around the Art Gallery too which had some cool small exhibitions. Wandered back into the sq eventually and got the bus to the Gondola up the mountains! interesting.. as it was so rainy and windy the gondola swayed and we ended up in the clouds! so no spectacular views of Canterbury plains for us! The Chinese lantern festival in Victoria Gardens was good too all very beautiful and bright, loads of food and shows! shame all we saw of Chch was in the rain - but v pretty none the less, kind of like oxford/Canterbury ish type of place!
